HOO DIS / KIM BU is a video and print-based installation centered on a fictional writer performed by the artist. Her name changes across languages: “Hoo Dis” in English, “Kim Bu” in Turkish, suggesting an author whose identity is constructed through translation, publicity, and circulation.

Through staged interviews, bilingual subtitles, book covers, wall texts, and promotional materials, the work builds a public figure whose biography, language, and literary work remain out of reach. As the image of the writer becomes increasingly legible, the systems that authenticate her begin to overtake the work attributed to her.

HOO DIS / KIM BU considers how authority and public identity are designed, circulated, and believed, and how image, story, and packaging can come to exceed the content they claim to represent.

Shot from a child's perspective, the film unfolds inside a café where objects, gestures, and time begin to shift in meaning. Through playful visual references to The Treachery of Images, the familiar becomes uncertain: a coffee, a dessert, a moment; none of them is quite what they seem.
